Stuck at the Airport? Then Look at the Art

"With few exceptions, the most impressive collections are at airports in the Southwest and West. Albuquerque International Airport's 93 pieces by 82 New Mexican artists represent the state's best contemporary art and traditional crafts. A self-guiding brochure leads visitors to displays scattered in ticketing areas and departure concourses, past cases of traditional Native American pottery, rugs, jewelry and baskets, as well as Hispanic weavings, embroidery and religious paintings. Contemporary art in the C concourse ranges from Garo Antreasian's abstract lithographs to Tim Prythero's "American," a mixed-media sculpture of a tacky house trailer with detailed awnings, a hummingbird feeder, and an outdoor religious shrine."
